Green initiatives in Renewable Energy Conference 2015 – New Delhi

2.7 lakh MW capacity to be added in coming 5 years to ensure universal energy access to the poor.  SunEdison Energy India Pvt. Ltd. tops the list with a commitment of 15,200MW, 10,000MW Solar and 5,200MW Wind energy. Other companies included are Axis energy group, Essel infraprojects ltd., Renew power, Hindustan Clean energy ltd. 24 government companies include NTPC, Coal India, SAIL (India) ltd and others to generate 18,819MW of green energy.

NIRD & PR bags the Abhinav Innovation Awards

The National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Hyderabad is awarded with Abhinav Innovation awards for Integrated Watershed Management Planning. Union Minister for Rural Development Birender Singh presented the award to DG NIRD, M.V.Rao in New Delhi.


PRITHVI – II successfully test fired.

The Pritvi-II surface-to-surface missile test fired its indigenoius nuclear from chandipur in Odisha for a range of 250km as against the full strike range of 350km.


What are Nanoparticles?

Nanoparticles are particles between 1 and 100 nanometers in size. In ,nanotechnology, a particle is defined as a small object that behaves as a whole unit with respect to its transport and properties. Nanoparticles research is currently an area of intense scientific reaserch, due to wide variety of potential applications in biomedical,optical, and electronic fileds.



National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) has agreed to extend financial aid to Telangana state’s dream projects: Mission Kakatiya and Telangana Water Grid Project. It agreed to give a total of Rs.5000 crore for the entire scheme and Rs.1,000 crore for financial year 2015-16. It would provide fund of Rs.360 crore as of now for Mission Kakatiya and another Rs.500 crore in next financial year. The Chief General Manager of NABARD, Jiji Mammen, said when met the CM K.C.Rao . Mammen told that the Water Grid Project is funded under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDf) loan. He also assured of providing for a less rate of interest . The project includes laying of 1.27 lakh-km pipelines and CM K.C.Rao said in return that the Telangana State would provide land for NABARD for its building construction in Hyderabad.

What is NABARD?

National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development to uplift rural India by providing credit flow for agriculture and rural non-farm sector. It was established on 12 July 1982. The present Chairman is Dr. Harsh Kumar Banwala.


State-level steering committee to review “Haritha Haram

Telangana State CM Mr.K.C.Rao has constituted a 13-member sate-level steering committee to review the progress of the “Telangana ku Haritha Haram” programme of implementation. It is ambitious programme of the state government to increase the land cover to 1/3rd i.e. 33% tree cover from the present 25% and would plant 230 crore saplings in the state in each and every villages, local bodies , corporations and all the stakeholders in the society. The panel is headed by the Chief Secretary; Principal Secretary (Forests and Environment) Rajesh Tiwari said on Monday that the government had constituted the committees functioning in the district and state-level.

Dr. Pachauri stepped down as IPCC Chairman

The (IPCC) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change announced its Vice-Chairman person Ismail El Gizouli as its acting Chair , Dr.Pachauri is being stepped down because of the sexual allegations against his co-worker and the colleague. He also to resign for his TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) as its Director-General.


Central Government shifts for a strong Centre-State bondage.

The Central government has announced its agenda of a strong and efficient “Cooperative federalism.” The Centre’s net tax receipts would go up by Rs.1,78,000 crore in 2015-16. This will be more than 45% than the financial year. The Fourteenth finance commission (FFC) headed by Y.V.Reddy recommended for 42% share to states in the division of centre’s net taxes. This is a shift from a grant-based central government to devolution-based one. This would bring a new importance to states to improve their state’s finances and would lead for a better growth; this decision made many Telanganites and the people of Telangana a relief.


IRNSS-1D “India’s own GPRS” soon

It is the fourth regional navigation satellite IRNSS-1D waiting for the launch on March 9, 2015. The 1,400 crore plus IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite system) will complete more than half on the ambitious ‘Indian GPS’ ring over the Subcontinent and allows ISRO’s sat-nav team to prove its usefulness in location-based applications. It is slated to be put on the PSLV launcher on February 28 at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The first one, IRNSS-1A was launched on July,2013. This is an achievement for the first time of making a regional navigation system.
