Sania – Hingis wins the WTA Singapore BNP Paribas mixed double title 2015:

Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis came up with another stupendous performance on Sunday to win the women’s doubles title of the prestigious $7 million WTA Finals at the Singapore Indoor Stadium here and comprehensively underline their supremacy in the category. The top seeds took just an hour and seven minutes to rout Spanish eighth seeds Garbine Muguruza and Carla Suarez Navarro 6-0, 6- 3 in the summit clash. It is thier 9th title this year, the rest are Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, Charleston Open, Wimbledon, US Open, Guangzhou Open, Wuhan Open and China Open.


NTPC poised to set up power plants in Telangana State:

As per Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014, NTPC has been mandated to set up 4000MW coal-fired thermal power plant for Telangana State. As a part of that, NTPC proposed 2×800 MW as Telangana Phase-I in Ramagundam to be located within the MGR bulb of NTPC Ramagundam Super Thermal Power Station.


BrahMos missile fired successfully:

Supersonic cruise missile BrahMos, with a strike-range of over 290 kilometres, was today test-fired from the navy’s newest stealth destroyer INS Kochi successfully hitting a decommissioned target ship in the Arabian Sea. The navy commissioned INS Kochi on September 30, this year. The 7,500-ton indigenously developed warship incorporates new design concepts for improved survivability, stealth, sea-keeping and manoeuvrability. The warship has the advanced capability of carrying a total of 16 BrahMos missiles in two 8-cell vertical launch systems, besides other sophisticated weapons and sensors.


Odisha bans fishing to protect Olive Ridley turtles:

In order to protect the endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles that arrive during winters for nesting, the Odisha forest department on Sunday imposed a sevenmonth ban on fishing along the coast, an official said. The ban will be in force from November 1 to May 31, 2016. The endangered Olive Ridley turtles arrive every year during winters for mass nesting in Rushikulya river mouth and Gahirmatha marine sanctuary, said a forest official. The restriction has been imposed as per Odisha Marine Fishing Act (OMFA).


New Zealand won Rugby World Cup 2015:

New Zealand won the Rugby World Cup 2015 after defeating Australia and became the 1st nation to retain Webb Ellis Cup.
